Ten Bioga partners are taking part in the Xuventude Mentoring na Empresa initiative, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia, a project that meets the demand for specialised professionals and improves their employability.

The Cluster Tecnolóxico Empresarial das Ciencias da Vida (Bioga), in need of specialised professional profiles, is determined to attract and retain talent in its thriving ecosystem. Following this strategy, Bioga is among the entities selected to participate in the programme Xuventude Mentoring na Empresa, a project promoted by the Consellería de Política Social e Xuventude and which aims to provide graduates under thirty years of age with training stays of up to three months in companies or public and private entities linked to strategic economic sectors in Galicia, as is the case of biotechnology, and to improve their chances of joining the labour market.

Bioga, whose more than 100 members currently generate 5,629 direct jobs, will facilitate the employability of 18 young people through a specialised training plan and paid internships in companies. José Vilariño, president of the Cluster Tecnolóxico Empresarial das Ciencias da Vida, highlights the need to implement tools that attract and retain talent in a specialised sector such as life sciences, “a strategic factor to meet the demand for new specialised professionals, who are increasingly in demand, and who are essential to support the growth and expansion of our sector”.

The ten Bioga partners participating in Xuventude Mentoring na Empresa will be ANFACO-CECOPESCA, BFlow, Biostatech, Galchimia, Granja Campomayor, InDrops Laboratorio, KeyBiological, Mestrelab Research, TasteLab and Grupo Zendal. The stay of the 18 young people will run from September to November and their profiles, which fit into the different departments of these specialised companies, cover R&D&I, finance, human resources, technology, administration and business development.

Bioga, in its commitment to Galician society to facilitate the employability of young people, already leads other initiatives linked to specialised training in Galicia. In 2022 it began its collaboration with the Higher Level Dual Vocational Training Cycle of Analysis and Quality Control Laboratory, in the CIFP Politécnico de Santiago de Compostela, which it maintains and renews this academic year, increasing new places thanks to the welcome among students and companies. The Cluster Tecnolóxico Empresarial das Ciencias da Vida also has the Biotalent Community platform, the largest employment exchange specialised in the biotech field in Spain, which allows accelerating the recruitment processes of junior and senior profiles.

The Xuventude Mentoring na Empresa initiative will strengthen the employability and professional skills and competences of young people between 18 and 30 years old registered in the National Youth Guarantee System. This proposal is 80 percent funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) in the Youth Employment Operational Programme 2014-2020. Participants will have a training plan with a minimum of 20 teaching hours and a tutor.
