The Galician biotechnology sector is preparing to make a qualitative leap in innovation and international competitiveness. Bioga, the Galician Life Sciences Technology Business Cluster and the Galician Innovation Agency of the Xunta de Galicia, are launching “Biofunding”, an initiative designed to catalyse collaborative projects with a view to European funding.

As a first step of this initiative, more than 50 agents of the Galician biotechnology ecosystem have participated in a day of dynamization of projects “Bioconnector” inaugurated by the Director of the Axencia Galega de Innovación, Carmen Cotelo and the Project Director of Bioga, Julio Martinez.

Bioconnector is an event in which a collaborative dynamic was developed with the aim of identifying common problems among companies in the biotechnology sector and promoting the creation of joint innovative projects that can access European funding. During the event, participants worked in groups to analyse problems, define key resources and design proposals that benefit all actors. The dynamics were structured to maximise synergies, facilitating collaboration between companies and research centres in the identification of common problems and the development of innovative solutions.

At the same time, Bioga has taken the opportunity to present its new European Project Office “Biofunding”. This comprehensive service offers specialised advice on the identification of calls for proposals, preparation of proposals and management of European projects, positioning Galician entities at the forefront of biotechnological innovation on a continental level.

GAIN’s participation as a strategic partner underlines the importance of the biotechnology sector in the regional innovation landscape. Its expertise will be of vital importance to guide participants in identifying collaboration opportunities that will not only boost the growth of the sector, but also align projects with European funding priorities.

With “Biofunding”, Bioga not only reaffirms its commitment to the Galician biotech sector, but also sets a new standard in public-private collaboration for innovation. The success of this initiative may mark a before and after in the international projection of Galician biotechnology, opening new avenues of funding and collaboration at European level.
